Starting at Newport, 17th February 2001, with 67003/66135 we power all the way to Rugby where the loco exchange takes place, in a typical winter fog in the midlands. 92009 join us next followed by 56117/60035. These 2 locos take on the most unique part of the tour, going down into Arpley yard at Warrington. We travel very slowly to the end of the track at Latchford where the train reverses to head towards Liverpool, passing under the West Coast Mainline and heading for Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. The final run down into Lime Street Station gives us a fantastic view of all the infrastructure well below street level.
On the return run we pass through the yards at Crewe for more stored locos to view, including a DELTIC
