Extended Cut! Keith’s GIANT Model Railway!
Bentfield is in a 7 meter by 7 meter garage with carpet and underlay which Keith says is essential for working under the baseboards. It took 10 years to build and is broadly finished except for the signalling as Keith now finds it harder to work under the baseboards even with the carpet as at 85 crawling around on the floor is getting hard work!
It is 00 gauge layout with a continuous main line doing reverse loops under hills. Divided into 8 sections it uses Lenz BM3 modules to stop and start locos as they enter and leave sections. This allows for up to 5 trains to run automatically and requires good trackwork and couplings.
All rolling stock have magnetic couplings, non brake wagons with Keith’s own design, and coaches which had Keiths own design but have been replaced with the Hornby superior ones as shown in the video. Most locos have capacitors as large as possible and with DCC, track cleaning is rarely required.
