We begin at London Paddington to catch 5A50, the empty coaching stock working from the Penzance to London Paddington Night Riviera Sleeper, making its way back towards Reading Traincare Depot.
Next, we head to Worcestershire where we catch Class 50 No. 50049 at Norton Junction, heading home following its recent visit to the West Somerset Railway.
We then make the short journey to Droitwich Spa, where there’s a busy mix of regular West Midlands Railway services alongside several much rarer movements heading to the Rail Live event at Long Marston.
Highlights include 99008 leading the Rail200 Inspiration Train with 66710 on the rear, as well as the unusual sight of DR79261 and DR79271 working as 6U01. These Harsco RGH-20C Switch & Crossing Rail Grinders, operated by Network Rail, are specialist heavy-maintenance vehicles used across the UK rail network to restore and smooth worn trackwork and remove irregularities.
