A Pendolino train experienced braking and safety system failures at Carlisle on 11 June 2026. A Thunderbird from West Coast Railways arrived to assist, but coupling attempts at the northern end were unsuccessful due to a Delmer coupling issue. Instead, a Class 57 successfully coupled at the southern end. The Pendolino was redirected to Preston before being moved to Longsight depot the following day. The event involved staff from Avanti West Coast, Alstom, and West Coast Railways, who worked collaboratively during the operation.
Fishplate has identified 3 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 2 headcodes and 4 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
