Starting at Llanwern, as our train departs the line from Fifoots Power Station in September 1990, the top and tail 37s heads towards Tondu. Clips from trackside were possible in the '90s and our cameraman "Spencer", a friend of Rowland Pittard, had the contacts for "right of access" Next we're on the line to Machen Quarry before we move to Tondu. The special finally departs on the now closed line down to Margam. Part 2 of this tape includes 37695 on a coal train up through Tondu and past Maesteg to collect more coal from the opencast, where in 2026 there is no trace whatsoever.
