I spent 3 days down inside the docks at Newport, to record the unloading of EWS and Freightliner class 66s. Built-in London, Ontario, Canada the team on the M.S.Fairload gave me permission to look inside the hold and record the delicate lifting of the locos down onto the track at the dockside. I believe the hull of the ship is double skinned to allow the movement of water to balance the weight of the load being unloaded onto the dockside track; a skilful operation. Note also other freight traffic moving in the docks and the Newport Transporter Bridge. Part 2 will feature a chat about the cab controls 22/23 June 2000. Copyright of Mike Wilcock
