Starting at Pontyclun we catch the train to Newport, stopping off at Cardiff ( note new office blocks adjacent to station ) to catch 68024 on the Ruggex to Edinburgh. Next stop Newport to catch 68024 again and the Royal Train with 67005/006. Train back to Ponty and drive up to Aberdare, Mountain Ash etc to record 66511 and 66519 on final services with Freightliner to Tower Colliery. Aberthaw Power Station is now importing high volatile coal from Russia and Australia which comes through Cardiff and Avonmouth Docks. The end of Hirwaun colliery has come sooner than envisaged according to a press release
