Channel: Green Signals

Description
The Doncaster Plant Works; an enduring focal point at the heart of Doncaster since 1853. Birthplace of the world-famous Flying Scotsman, Mallard and so many more iconic locomotives.

2026 is also hugely important as the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Nigel Gresley, the legendary railway engineer and visionary whose innovation and engineering excellence catapulted this famous railway works to international fame and status.

Times change however and very soon; the Plant will close its doors to railway engineering. But not without a last great fanfare. Wabtec, the current custodians of the site organised a two-day extravaganza with some amazing exhibits and remarkable people all telling their stories. And naturally, Green Signals went along to have a look.
