Description
🚂 Sometimes the best railway moments are the ones you never plan.

Today (17 June 2026), I had originally gone to Hampton Loade to test out a few new videography locations that I’d been wanting to try for some time.

As I was about to head back to the car, one of the signals suddenly cleared for a train that wasn’t on the timetable. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to stay and see what was coming through.

I’m so glad I did.

To my surprise, it was GWR 4150 out on a light engine test run between Bridgnorth and Highley and back again.

This was a particularly special sight, as before returning to steam on 1 June 2026, 4150 hadn’t steamed since June 1965. After being withdrawn from British Rail service and spending decades at Barry Scrapyard, an incredible restoration effort has finally brought this magnificent Large Prairie back to life after 61 years.

What started as a simple trip to try out some new filming locations turned into capturing a piece of Severn Valley Railway history completely by chance.

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time really does pay off. 🚂📹👏
