Class 37 Number 37501 'Teesside Steelmaster' Hauls WMR EMU Number 730032 Into Gascoigne Wood Sidings

British Railways Class 37/5 Co-Co diesel-electric locomotive number 37501 "Teesside Steelmaster" was originally built in 1963 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry as D6701, before being refurbished and renumbered under the BR TOPS scheme in 1986. This 102-tonne locomotive is powered by an English Electric 12SVT 12-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which generates 1,470 brake horsepower. The locomotive utilizes a DC electrical transmission system, is geared for a maximum operational speed of 80 mph, and delivers a starting tractive effort of 55,000 lbf. It is painted in its retro celebrity British Steel light blue livery, featuring British Steel and Teesrail logos alongside the Thornaby depot Kingfisher motif.

British Railways Class 730 "Aventra" electric multiple unit (EMU) number 730032 is a modern passenger train built by Alstom at Derby Litchurch Lane Works. This three-car unit is captured in its corporate West Midlands Railway livery. The unit features a dual-voltage electric propulsion system capable of drawing power from both a 25 kV AC overhead line system and a 750 V DC third rail, utilizing insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) inverters to drive distributed asynchronous AC traction motors that produce a total output of 2,842 horsepower. It has a maximum operational top speed of 90 mph and features an internal passenger seating layout providing 199 standard class seats, allowing for a total commuter capacity of 546 passengers when including standees.
