Trip around the WCML ‘West Coast Main Line’ in the North West (Cheshire)
Location 1
Sandbach Station to capture some freight along the line where it branches off to Northwich and carry’s on to the Manchester area (Trafford Park) Freightliner Terminal. Station is well looked after, kept tidy and flowers
Location 2
Chorlton just South from Basford Hall Junction on the West Coast Main Line. Good area for the freight trains heading south as they apply the power to get going down the slow heading down to Stafford
Location 3
Casey Lane ‘Basford Hall Junction’
Again south of Crewe and exits the Basford Hall yard to head down the West Coast Main Line down to Stafford
Location 4
Crewe Station. Reason for the final destination was to capture the failed Colas Freight Train heading to Longport. 70803 failed with low oil pressure so 66846 dragged it back to Crewe from the rear. Run round and headed back to Longport for the 2 attempt
