Return journey from Newport (South Wales) to Flint found to be an adventure and also a delayed arrival time of 2hours.
67022 rolled up on platform 3 for the 1W23 - 16:49 Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly (Departing time 17:03) Still in the platform at 17:20. Our departure time was 17:28 from the same platform. 1W96 - 17:14 Cardiff Central to Holyhead. Total confusion as the guard on the train announced all passengers travelling on the Manchester Piccadilly service to get off and wait for another service over on platform 2. Now the train became the Holyhead service. After a lot more confusing announcements the Holyhead departure was 17:45 (17minutes late). 5 minutes behind the Manchester Piccadilly service. All fine till we reached Abergavenny we’re the Driver & Guard we’re on the platform on their mobiles. We were informed the train was not serviceable and we all needed to get off and the next service would pick us up and take us to Shrewsbury.
Found out the loco 67022 had not been filled up with fuel and running dry. Driver changed ends and departed out the station to the near by sidings. The next service arrived 1W64 - 15:07 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly we boarded till Shrewsbury. Connection again at Chester and finally arrived at Flint *2 hours late*
The failed loco was dragged back to Cardiff Canton the same night with a quick response from TFW.
