Description
British Railways Class 37 Co-Co diesel-electric locomotive number 37250 (originally entering service under the pre-TOPS scheme as D6950) was built in 1965 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry. This 105-tonne Type 3 mainline locomotive is powered by an English Electric 12CSVT 12-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which generates 1,750 brake horsepower. Utilizing an English Electric DC electrical transmission system driving six traction motors, the locomotive is geared for a maximum operational top speed of 80 mph and delivers a starting tractive effort of 55,500 lbf. This classic heritage asset is turned out in its vibrant corporate EWS (English, Welsh & Scottish Railway) maroon and gold livery.

The locomotive is seen here in 8K 16:9 widescreen hauling a mixed freight train uphill out of Keighley Station during the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Summer Diesel Gala. The train is captured thrashing out of the station making a thunderous noise on Saturday 20/06/2026 at 08:00.
