When the Peak brought the Three Peaks through Carlisle, with late freights 26, 27 and 29 June 2026

Description
Filled over the three days the Three Peaks by Rail charter and related workings passed through Carlisle: 26th, 27th and 29th June.

On the day, the charter was late departing Ravenglass for Fort William. It had been a chaotic day along the WCML with 30+ degree temperatures even in Carlisle. Thus the train was 131 minutes late arriving at Carlisle. This gave me the opportunity to record some late evening freights including an intermodal hauled by a single class 90. Soon after arriving the failed 57, which had been towed around since Bangor, was replaced by 37401 for the run to Fort William and back to Crewe.

O Saturday 27th I;d been in Scotland for the day and my train south from Haymarket was ahead of the delayed return working of the charter, thus I managed to capture the crew change.

But what of 57311? Well on Monday 29th, 90002 turned up with 37401. The 37 headed off to Upperby depot whilst the 90 retrieved the 57 and headed back to Crewe.
