Action On The New Up Stamford 12th June 2021
The ballast train was coming quite a way south to use the ladder crossing at New England, Peterborough, to reverse so that it could access the ECML to travel northwards. We then see the train going north on the Down Fast at a more reasonable line speed.

A Cross Country service was observed moving slowly south along the newly opened Up Stamford route due to a 20mph speed restriction. Later, a ballast cleaning train, noted as the longest to use the line, travelled from Stapleford & Sandiacre towards Joan Croft Junction north of Doncaster. The train reversed at New England, Peterborough, to access the East Coast Main Line and continued north on the Down Fast track. The footage also references Network Rail's Werrington Grade Separation project and related animations.
