On the 29th to 31st of August, the NNR ran their 50 Anniversary Steam Gala featuring 7 locomotives over the three days and 6 locomotives running each day. Five passenger sets, including a recreation of the reopening train with three suburban coaches and SR Pill Box brake van. Originally planned for the event was the visit of Peckett 0-6-0 Ashington No 5 from the North Tyneside Steam Railway recently overhauled was based at the NNR from 1969 to 1991. They didn't want to rush its test, so its visit postpone to next year.
