Trains at: Ely, Fen Line, 10/04/26
The station was built and opened in 1845 by the Eastern Counties Railway at a cost of ÂŁ81,500 back then. I dread to think how much it would be if that were built today, especially because of the geography of the terrain that the line is built on. The station was always busy because from its outset its always been used as a junction station linking Cambridge, Peterborough and the surrounding areas to London.
There isn't to much to tell about this station other than during the 1990's British Rail modified the station quite substantially in order for electrification to take place, although not every line coming out of Ely is electrified today.
My next station will be Watford Junction on the West Coast Mainline.

The footage highlights the station's historical significance as a junction linking Cambridge, Peterborough, and surrounding areas to London. While some details about the station’s development and electrification are mentioned, specific train headcodes are not included in the metadata.
