Trains at: Syston, MML, 21/02/26
There isn't a great deal to say history wise about this station so I'll keep it fairly brief.
The station was opened in 1840 by the Midland Counties Railway and was a small intermediate station, it wasn't long after that till the MCR was merged with the North Midland Railway and the Derby Junction Railway to create the Midland Railway.
The station became a junction station in 1846 when the line to Peterborough via Melton Mowbray was opened.
When the Midland Mainline upgraded the route from 2 to 4 tracks a replacement station was opened in 1874.
This station eventually closed in 1968 and wasn't reopened until 1994 to coincide with phase one of the Ivinghoe line.
My next station will be Leicester.
