GWR Pannier Tank 7714 in Action | Severn Valley Railway Summer Mixed Traction Gala + Paddock Railway
Enjoy a dedicated look at GWR Pannier Tank No. 7714, one of the Severn Valley Railway’s hardest-working and most recognisable steam locomotives. Filmed over three days at multiple locations along the Severn Valley Railway, this video captures 7714 in action during the Summer Mixed Traction Gala as well as on normal service trains, showcasing the locomotive working through the beautiful Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside.
Built in 1930 by Kerr Stuart & Co. to Charles Collett’s renowned GWR 5700 Class design, 7714 spent its working life across the Great Western Railway and later British Railways before finding a new home on the Severn Valley Railway in 1973. Following an extensive overhaul, the locomotive returned to traffic in 2016 and continues to be a reliable performer, hauling both passenger and demonstration freight trains.
From powerful departures and hard-working climbs to atmospheric station stops and lineside run-pasts, this video celebrates one of the SVR’s most popular pannier tanks in its BR black livery.
