The Last Tyne & Wear Metro Class 555 Delivery Moves Passing Lewisham (w/ ROMIC Class 20s) - Feb 2026
The route for the last two move was changed slightly due to the ECML being shut near Peterborough, thus routing it via Spalding overnight on both occasions, and on the first (04/02/26) it had to go earlier to Wembley Yard first, due to Hertford Loop Line diverts. Normally, the moves would go via the Catford Loop Line to get towards the ECML, but the pathing via the Mid-Kent & Lewisham lines for the last moves was a rare one.
If I get the time, I will do an 'unseen footage' compilation of some of the earlier drags, as this was one of the few unit deliveries I was actually able to see most of, due to how local most of the stations they passed through in south-east London were to me. If not, a few will feature in other videos in my long backlog.

A video captures the final delivery moves of new Tyne & Wear Metro Class 555 units passing through Lewisham station, heading north towards Newcastle. The units are hauled by ROMIC-owned Class 20 locomotives (20007 and 20205), with barrier wagons. Due to a closure on the ECML near Peterborough, the route was altered, taking the trains via Spalding overnight. The first move also included an earlier stop at Wembley Yard due to diversions on the Hertford Loop Line. This unusual routing via the Mid-Kent and Lewisham lines marked a rare deviation from standard delivery paths.
