TRAINS at DERBY, Busy Morning… Total Chaos by Afternoon!

What started as a brilliant day at Derby quickly turned into complete railway chaos… 👀🚆🔥
Recorded at Derby railway station on 26th May 2026 between 07:30 and 14:00, this video captures a huge variety of modern passenger traction, freight workings, depot movements, test trains and heritage diesel action — before the entire afternoon completely fell apart due to cancellations, breakdowns and infrastructure problems.
The morning session started strongly with constant traffic flowing through the station including EMR Class 810 Auroras, Cross Country Voyagers in both original and new liveries, Class 170 Turbostars, Class 158s, freight movements and several unusual locomotive workings.

But once the clock hit around 1PM, the day completely unravelled.
Services began collapsing one after another with:
❌ Broken down trains
❌ No available drivers
❌ Points failures
❌ Major cancellations across multiple routes
At one stage, it genuinely felt like virtually every route out of Derby was affected.
One of the biggest issues involved 810019, which broke down in the platform while working 1C38, creating further disruption throughout the station, eventually got going but broke down again at Leicester and returned to Etches park.
Double voyager had to be split as rear one broke down at platform.
Things only got worse afterwards.
With trains towards Leicester and London St Pancras heavily disrupted and repeatedly cancelled, I eventually decided to head over to Beeston station instead to try and get a Nottingham to St Pancras service back towards Leicester…
…and unbelievably THAT train broke down too 😳
The train failed at both East Midlands Parkway and Loughborough, where it had to be rebooted before continuing.
What should have been a straightforward journey home turned into one of the most frustrating railway afternoons I’ve experienced in a long time.
Still, despite the chaos, Derby once again delivered incredible railway variety and proved why it remains one of the UK’s most interesting stations for enthusiasts.
