West Coast Railways 'The Dalesman' Charter! Class 47's Numbers 47813 & 47812

Thank you so much for watching and supporting MobileTrains!British Rail Class 47 (Sulzer Type 4) Co-Co diesel-electric locomotives were built between 1962 and 1968 by Brush Traction at Loughborough and BR Crewe Works. Each Class 47/8 locomotive is powered by a 12-cylinder twin-bank turbocharged Sulzer 12LDA28-C diesel engine delivering 2,580 brake horsepower (1,920 kW) and a starting tractive effort of 62,000 lbf. Operating together in a top-and-tail configuration, locomotives 47813 and 47812—both turned out in classic West Coast Railways (WCR) maroon livery—boast a massive combined total output of 5,160 brake horsepower (3,840 kW). The Class 47/8 variant is specifically equipped with long-range fuel tanks, making them ideal for mainline charter and railtour operations across the national rail network.

Having traveled out from York via Keighley, Skipton, and the scenic Settle & Carlisle line earlier in the day, the train is captured blasting through Church Fenton station at high speed, thundering down the line on the final sprint into York.
