British Rail Class 91 Bo-Bo high-speed electric locomotive number 91130 'Lord Mayor of Newcastle' was constructed by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) at Crewe Works between 1988 and 1991 as part of the flagship InterCity 225 fleet for the East Coast Main Line. Overhead electrified at 25 kV AC, the locomotive utilizes four body-mounted traction motors producing a continuous output of 6,480 brake horsepower (4,830 kW) and a maximum operational speed of 125 mph (200 km/h). Designed specifically for high-speed push-pull services in tandem with Mark 4 passenger coaches and a Driving Van Trailer (DVT), the 81.5-tonne locomotive features an asymmetrical body styling with a streamlined driving cab at one end and a flat cab at the rear. Locomotive 91130 bears the title Lord Mayor of Newcastle and is presented in a stunning retro LNER livery scheme.
