37800 + class 730 EMU’s block Swinton Junction (S.Yorks).
As soon as that had passed, 37800 came into view hauling West Midland Trains class 730 EMU’s 730034 and 730021 on the 5Q65 Gascoigne Wood to Soho Light Maintenance Depot. The train was running 13 minutes early but was held at the station thus blocking the junction to Mexborough as can be seen at the back of the train. This was to allow 66310 to come from the Mexborough line with the 6X01 Scunthorpe Trent Terminal to Eastleigh.
Meanwhile 170474, running to time was stopped, the driver choosing to stop short of the platform to avoid anybody trying to get on the train.
Once 66310 had cleared the section, 37800 was allowed to proceed with a lovely burst of sound, now running just 9 minutes early. Finally, 170474 was able to proceed on its' journey, the 1W43 Sheffield to Scarborough, now running 4 minutes late.
