Built by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) at Crewe Works in 1979 (entering service as part of set 253028), 43125 is a 47-year-old Class 43 High Speed Train power car. Modernized during fleet life-extension programs, it is powered by a 2,250 hp (1,680 kW) MTU 16V4000 R41 16-cylinder diesel engine driving a Brush alternator set, capable of a maximum operating speed of 125 mph (200 km/h). Operating as part of Britain's last active High Speed Train passenger fleet, 43125 carries ScotRail's 'Inter7City' livery featuring Scottish city skyline silhouettes.
Rear Power Car: Class 43 No. 43132
Constructed by BREL at Crewe Works and delivered into service on 21st July 1979 (originally set 253031), 43132 is a 47-year-old HST power car. Equipped with an upgraded 2,250 hp (1,680 kW) MTU 16V4000 power plant driving Bo-Bo bogies through electric traction motors, it delivers a service top speed of 125 mph (200 km/h). Wearing matching ScotRail Inter7City livery, 43132 operates on the rear in push-pull formation, providing trailing thrust and electric train supply (ETS).
Rolling Stock: 5-Car Refurbished Mark 3 Rake
The set features a short-form 5-car Mark 3 coaching stock rake, specifically refurbished for ScotRail's intercity network connecting Scotland's main cities. Upgraded with modern passenger seating, automatic powered sliding doors, Wi-Fi, and controlled emission toilets (CET), these lightweight trailers allow the twin 2,250 hp power cars to deliver rapid acceleration out of terminal stations.
