Final DRS Move For 37425 & 37422 with Snowploughs at Bamfurlong - 20th January 2024
With the Class 37 fleet withdrawals underway at DRS this is believed to be the final mainline outing for 37425 under DRS ownership, though its future has not yet been confirmed. I really hope it gets saved from the scrap. 37s are my favourite locos.
The locos were heading along the slow lines as booked and would be held at Springs Branch so 66516 on 4S49 could overtake, which that train passed me around a minute later.

English Electric Class 37 diesel locomotives 37425 and 37422 were filmed moving north along the West Coast Main Line near Bamfurlong, south of Wigan, on 20 January 2024. The locomotives were transporting ZZA snowploughs from Crewe to Carlisle. This may have been the final mainline operation for 37425 under Direct Rail Services (DRS) ownership, though its future remains uncertain. Another locomotive, 66516, was noted as part of a train with headcode 4S49 passing the location later in the day.
