47812 & 57313 at Springs Branch - 15th December 2022
The locomotives were working the opening leg of "Northern Belle Christmas Lunch" charter from Manchester Victoria to Blackburn via Wigan, Carnforth and Clitheroe.
The train was spending nicely along here having got the clear signal after a late Avanti service Infront. This charter was running 20 late here due to the ECS running late in from Burton. Some lovely tones from the driver too. Network Rail were just up the line as ever.
From Blackburn the train would head east and around the Todmorden curve to Manchester and back past here this evening and onwards to Lancaster to complete her trip.

Two West Coast Railways diesel locomotives, 47812 and 57313, are seen operating together on the West Coast Main Line near Springs Branch Depot south of Wigan. The pair were working a charter service from Manchester Victoria to Blackburn via Wigan, Carnforth, and Clitheroe as part of the "Northern Belle Christmas Lunch." The train was delayed due to late arrivals from Burton and was later joined by Network Rail personnel along the route. The service continued east towards Blackburn and would later return west through Todmorden to Lancaster.
