66031 Rescues 66425 On Failed Freight Train at Wigan - 30th March 2023
66031 was dispatched from Crewe to head north to Leyland. This was because late running 66429 failed in Leyland station causing a few hours of chaos for the signallers.
Worst of all Freightliner 66613 was stuck immediately behind it stuck which was working the usual Tunstead train.
66031 had to head north to Preston, back down the fasts to just onto the Bolton/Chorley/Preston line then was able to reverse onto 4M27 the Tesco container train and eventually carry the train on.
Even under its current different path she was still running a touch late to Leyland. Passing me here 188 minutes late

A DRS Blue 66031 locomotive was involved in a rescue operation on the afternoon of March 30, 2023, at Wigan North Western. The locomotive was dispatched from Crewe to assist with a failed freight train involving 66429 at Leyland. It travelled north to Preston before reversing onto the Bolton/Chorley/Preston line to help move the stranded train.
