The Nuclear Flask Train at Bamfurlong - 10th September 2022
The four class 68 locomotives were on the nuclear flask train from the Sellafield aka Windsacle nucular plant in Cumbria down to Crewe.
All the flasks are owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority with DRS having the contract to shift the stuff about the railways. Locomotives are used in pairs as a precaution in case one fails en route. We see four here which I suspect is saving a light engine path.
The train was running 58 early here and was slung on the slows to wait around Golborne for 20 minutes before carrying on her journey. Annoying as the next southbound train was over 10 minutes away from me.
The order of locos was 68002 + 68004 + 68009 + 68018
Loco names
68002 - Intrepid
68004 - Rapid
68009 - Titan
68018 - Vigilant
