Description
Class 37 locomotive 37409 "Loch Awe" in the ScotRail livery is seen heading south along the west coast main line and through Bamfurlong south of Wigan on the afternoon of Monday 23rd March 2026.

The steam locomotive was working a double steam locomotive drag move formed of Southern Railway West Country Class 4-6-2 Pacific Steam Locomotive 34046 "Braunton" and GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5029 "Nunney Castle with a support coach to match making quite a stunning sight

The trio were at Keighley & Worth Valley railway between 19th to 22nd March 2026 for a gala. Quite a spectacular sound with tones from the 37 and a whistle from the crew with Braunton. Not my steadiest shot balancing on a fence with a slight injury to my leg makes it harder.

The northbound version of the same trio going north at Springs Branch can be viewed here.
