Bamfurlong Charters - 03rd September 2022

This is a quick compilation of some fantastic traction action taken at Bamfurlong situated on the west coast main line south of Wigan on the morning of Saturday 3rd September 2022.

We start off at 8am with West Coast Railways 37676 and 37516 heading south working "The Garston Growler" tour from Lancaster to eventually Blackpool via a huge circular journey via places like Crewe, Manchester, Bolton, Wigan and Liverpool. The train is doing a 2 day tour with tomorrow focusing on lines north of here in Lancashire.

Next up we have West Coast Railways 57313 working "The Cumbrian Fells Express" from Bristol to Carlisle with 34067 'Tangmere taking over doing Carnforth to Preston legs. Unusual for just a solo 57 rather than a pair together she was late so that on-time Avanti was a tight call.

Finally at around 1030 we have LSL BR Green 47501/D1944 with 47805/D1935 "Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013’ double headed working he "Settle To Carlisle & Coastal Statesman" (Statesman Rail) charter train from Milton Keynes Central to Appleby via the Settle & Carlisle line before heading home via Carlisle and the Cambrian Coast line.
