50007 & 50049 Thrashes Wigan - The Grampian Highlander Day 1 - 24th August 2024
The stunning class 50 locomotives with matching stock seen working The Grampian Highlander: Day 1 (Pathfinder Railtours) from Taunton to Aberdeen with 66306 doing the honours as far as Gloucester.
The tour would head north through Birmingham and Crewe and via the west coast main line to Scotland. Day 2 would work Aberdeen to Inverness and return via Elgin and Dundee.
The final day and return would run via the east coast main line and through York and across the Pennines via Stalybridge and eventually via Stoke and onwards back south.
The tour was running 11 late here thanks to the typical Avanti West Coast circus. Northern having issues too meant no bowled potential. A tree on line at St Helens.
A lovely long shot where I didn't quite pan round well with the large group of familiar faces on show too. These locos were previously in GBRF livery.
