90044 & 90042 at Springs Branch - 12th August 2024
Freightliner Powerhaul Livery 90042 south along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch on Monday 12th August 2024.
The stunning class 90 Locomotives were working a Grangemouth to Daventry container train. 4M25 was previously a DB job but they lost the contract I think was in 2023. That hadn't run there 90s for long time before that too.
Freightliner gained the job and hopefully will start running it regularly again. Nice to get some daytime 90s once again. If on-time this train passes at midday.
The train was 50 late here having left Grangemouth late much further delayed but thanks to pathing she was making up time having followed some 20s from Carlisle.
I have heard this may be a one off and the path isn't returning to regular use unfortunately.

A freight train led by Class 90 locomotives 90044 and 90042 travels south along the West Coast Main Line and through Springs Branch. The train, operating under headcode 4M25, was running 50 minutes late after departing Grangemouth later than scheduled. It was reported to be a one-off service, with no indication of regular future operations. The locomotives were working a container freight service from Grangemouth to Daventry. Freightliner operates the train following a contract change from DB Schenker in 2023.
