Brute Force 56103 Wrestles with a Loaded Sand Train - 05th July 2025
The class 56 was working the very heavy loaded sand train from Middleton Towers to Ravenhead aka the Pilkington glass factory at St Helens. Having paused at the protecting signal on the loop she was eventually given the green.
There is an incline here and over the junction over the canal before dropping down through Bryn and changing again on the final run to St Helens.
A great sound of the fabulous Ruston-Paxman power unit developing 3,250 bhp (2,423 kW). Incredible sound and thrash hauling around 2000 tonnes here.
