Description
New British-built Hitachi trains the Class 805 for Avanti West Coast in unbranded state with units 805003 & 8005001 making an appearance on test seen at Wigan North Western on the afternoon of Monday 1st August 2023.

The units were doing a mileage run working from back from Blackpool North to Oxley depot in Wolverhampton and back under GBRF path. The new fleet is anticipated to enter service on the West Coast Main Line later in 2023.

. The new Hitachi trains are set to replace the company’s diesel-only ‘Voyager’ trains later this year on routes from London to the Midlands, Chester, North Wales and the North-West of England. The new 23-strong fleet is the result of a 350 million pound investment. New modern trains that don't tilt.

Today's mileage accumulation/test run was a success. Personally I find the Hitachi Class 80X fleets very boring and soulless.

The official working today 5Q70 1330 Blackpool North to Oxley Car. M.D.
