37676 Thrashes Bamfurlong - 12th November 2024

Description
West Coast Railways Class 37 locomotive 37676 is seen thrashing loudly south along the west coast main line and through Bamfurlong south of Wigan on the cold morning of Tuesday 12th November 2024

The class 37 locomotive was hauling a short rake of coaches from the WCR base at Carnforth down to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury.

The train had as booked crossed onto the slows lines after passing Wigan North Western dived under the mainline to Bamfurlong junction where shed then cross back onto the fasts all as booked which seems mental to me.

The bonus is that once she crossed over the driver opened the tractor up to give my favourite sound on the railways. A 37 thrashing along for the last few miles before taking the route over Chat Moss to Manchester.

Running Ontime

Booked and used the slows to cross underneath mains at Bamfurlong junction but crosses back onto the fasts. Was about 2 late in reality passing me but Ontime at junction. Booked on fasts here is so unusual
