Stanier Class Black Five 44932 Passes Wigan - 01st April 2023
She had worked part of "The Stratford Flyer" raltour earlier in the day between Norwich and Stratford Upon Avon for Railway Touring Company. Removed near Leicester for WCR 47802 I believe on the return leg.
Not my finest shot as she was running faster than I thought. She was 3 early here. A 6 Car Northern class 331 bound for Manchester arrived less than 20 seconds after the kettle went through.
Some brief infromation about this particular locomotive
LMS Stanier Class 5MT 4932, is a preserved British steam locomotive. It is one of 18 surviving members of the Black 5 class which had 842 members constructed by five manufacturers. 4932 was built in 1945 by the London, Midland, and Scottish (LMS) railway at Horwich Works, which is now known as Horwich Loco Industrial Estate. 44932 is the sole remaining member of the class which was built at the LMS's Horwich Works.
I absolutely love the Black Fives certainly one of my favourites of the steam variety.
