Double Class 66 Power! 66704 & 66746 Passes Bamfurlong - 12th March 2026
The class 66s were working the usual Hams Hall to Mossend container train running a few minutes late here. This is usually just a solo 66 so seeing a pair is rare. I would assume either problems on a previous trip or a clever fuel saving loco move being the reason for it.

Two GBRF Class 66 locomotives, 66704 and 66746, are captured operating together on the West Coast Main Line near Bamfurlong, south of Wigan. The pair was working a freight service between Hams Hall and Mossend EuroTerminal, running slightly late. This pairing is unusual as such services typically use only one Class 66 locomotive. The video records the locomotives passing through the area on what appears to be an operational routine. No further details about the reason for the dual locomotive operation are provided.
Fishplate has identified 2 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 1 headcode and 1 operator . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
