Description
For the first time on my channel we at last feature a Transport For Wales Class 197 Civity unit which today is 197121 a three car variety seen arriving and departing from Warrington Bank Quay station on the morning of Tuesday 30th September 2025.

The class 197 was working one of the hourly services from Manchester Airport to the North Wales seaside town of Llandudno. A few trains a day to go onwards to Holyhead.

The British Rail Class 197 is a class of diesel multiple unit passenger train built by CAF, based on its Civity platform. They are operated by Transport for Wales Rail (TfW), split into 51 two-car units and 26 three-car units.

The Class 197 trains were built by CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) in Newport, South Wales, which also served as the assembly plant for the trains, with the body shells being imported from Spain. The first Class 197 train rolled off the production line at CAF's Newport facility in May 2021, marking the beginning of their introduction into service for Transport for Wales Rail

I enjoyed a longer visit to Warrington capturing a nice variety of freight trains which can be viewed here.
