60085 Tackles the Boars Head Climb - 26th September 2025
The class 60 was working the stone empties from the Hanson's site at Ashton In Makerfield just south of Wigan north to Horton In Ribblesdale Quarry located at Ribblehead on the Settle & Carlisle line.
Despite being an empty train she's still pretty heavy and the locomotive would work hard on the long climb from Wigan to Copull /Balshaw Lane all uphill in the northbound direction or well majority. I am roughly 3 miles north of Wigan North Western here.
My reason for being up here was to film Clun Castle the steam Locomotive. That video is linked here.
