Quadruple Headed Flask Train - 21st December 2024
The quad set of 68s hauling 4 FNA-D nuclear flask carriers from Sellafield to Crewe via Barrow. Running almost an hour early here to get held to time unfortunately. Would of been perfect on the fasts.
Not often you see more than 2 locos on this job running under a different headcode and timing to compared to most Saturdays. This is probably my favourite working to film through Wigan that's freight anyway.
Some phenomenal power available but not used for this job.
Maximum speed100 mph (160 km/h)
Power output 3,800 hp (2,800 kW) at 1,740 rpm
