46100 Royal Scot at Wigan With London to Settle & Carlisle Railway Tour - 25th March 2023
The steam loco was working "Settle & Carlisle Railway London to Carlisle" railtour for Steam Dreams from London Euston to Carlisle. Royal Scot was booked to switch onto the train at Crewe as usual but due to a signal failure the changeover point would be 31 miles north at Warrington Bank Quay station. Intercity 86101 led the train north to Warrington. She passed through minutes earlier as she takes the train home and Royal Scot comes back tomorrow. Blue 47853/47614 whatever number you prefer was at the rear.
The tour was 16 late here and that TPE Liverpool service was ontime. This made for the start of a nice day with me chasing a class 60 tour at Pemberton and Ince Moss.

A LMS Royal Scot Class 4-6-0 steam locomotive, numbered 46100 "Royal Scot," is seen heading north along the West Coast Main Line through Wigan North Western. The locomotive was operating a railtour from London Euston to Carlisle for Steam Dreams. Due to a signal failure, the changeover point was moved to Warrington Bank Quay, where Intercity 86101 led the train north. Locomotive 47853 was at the rear of the train. The tour included stops at Crewe and Settle, with additional activity noted at Pemberton and Ince Moss.
