40013 at Bamfurlong - Welsh Marches Whistler - 03rd June 2021

In todays video we have a real treat with English Electric Type 4, class 40013 working an early morning charter/railtour service heading south along the west coast main line at Bamfurlong south of Wigan at 7am ish o the morning of Thursday 3rd June 2021. 40013 looking superb in the BR Green livery was working the first leg of the "Welsh Marches Whistler" from Lancaster to Crewe were a pair of steam locomotives would take her onwards to Bristol with the 40 retaking the train for the full joney home to Lancaster later that day.


This train was running ontime here but our usual tracking systems were playing up so just by sight I knew when to record lucky this spot has great views of stuff from the north. You may notice some blue bin liner wagons at the start heading north via the slows that was 66156 working an ontime bins train overnight from Wilton to Knowley which is usally timed a few hours earlier


My only other class 40 for sight was 40145 heading for Appleby in preparation to work the final day's excursion train on the S&C. Known as "The Staycation Express". You can view that here
