Avanti West Coast Poppy Train 390151 Passes Springs Branch - 15th December 2025
We see the train spending north along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch south of Wigan on the rainy morning of Monday 15th December 2025. The class 390 was working a London to Edinburgh service via Edinburgh and was running 4 late here.
The unique tribute, created by Cheshire East Poppy Appeal and the intercity operator, will see veterans, reservists, and volunteers assemble a poppy wreath as it travels by rail from Glasgow to London.
To mark the occasion, Avanti West Coast worked with the UK’s leading train supplier, Alstom, to wrap the cab ends of Pendolino 390151 with a design featuring poppies – the symbol of Remembrance – at Glasgow Traincare Centre.

The special livery was created in collaboration with the Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland to mark Remembrance Day 2025.
