Britannia Storms Wigan With The Lakes Express - 27th September 2022
The railtour had started in London Victoria with 34046 Braunton tagged with 47805 and after taking the train up the wcml she was replaced at Crewe with Britannia. The train left Crewe 24 late and after a clear run all the way up she was only 8 late passing me here with a decent crowd of spotters viewing her. BR Green 47805 was on the rear for support.
The train would be heaidng for Oxenholme but via the long route today via Blackburn and the Settle & Carlisle line before swinging back south down the wcml at Upperby Junction as part of a 4 day tour.
I was delighted she made up some time as I had only 5 minutes more before I had to disappear for an appointment elsewhere
