56098 & 56103 at Bamfurlong - 11th May 2024
The 56s were working the usual sand train from Middleton Towers to Ravenhead but split across 2 paths today. 56103 has only recently re entered traffic after years away so lead the train as far as Derby before being switched so 098 could lead.
56s aren't that common on this job never mind a pair. Shame about the lighting and overgrown nature here making it less than an ideal shot. The train would be held at Ince Moss as booked but only briefly.

A GBRF Class 56 locomotive, 56098, and DCR's 56103 are seen heading north along the West Coast Main Line through Bamfurlong on a sunny evening. Both locomotives were working a sand train from Middleton Towers to Ravenhead, with 56103 recently returning to service after a long absence. The train was scheduled to be held briefly at Ince Moss.
