We begin with a glimpse of the impressive Midland Pullman HST, working 1Z32 – 06:16 Paignton to Scarborough, operated by Locomotive Services.
With the full morning sun shining, the Midland Pullman looked absolutely fantastic as it passed through. Just 15 minutes later, we were treated to some freight action with 66658 working 6V05 – 09:12 Round Oak to Margam T.C.
We then make our way to Kidderminster Town on the Severn Valley Railway, where all of the heritage railway action in this video takes place.
First up is 20048, preparing to depart with the 10:55 (11:00) service.
Then things take an unexpected turn. At the scheduled departure time for 46045, the signal remains at danger and the locomotive has been switched off. Something isn’t quite right!
Rumours begin circulating of a fallen tree near Hampton Loade, and it soon becomes clear that the service is facing a significant delay. The 11:45 service, hauled by 46045, eventually gets away at around 12:25.
Next comes D9551, arriving at Kidderminster Town at approximately 12:45, having been due to form the 12:40 departure from Kidderminster. After a quick turnaround, D9551 heads off towards Highley, albeit considerably behind schedule.
We then wait for the arrival of the superb D1062 Western Courier, which eventually departs Kidderminster almost on time, bringing some normality back to the service.
A huge well done to everyone involved at the Severn Valley Railway for dealing with the disruption. Despite the fallen tree and resulting delays, the railway remained professional and worked hard to get services moving again.
It was a fantastic day at Kidderminster Town, with plenty of diesel action and some superb locomotives on show.
