60163 ‘Tornado’ Visits The North Yorkshire Moors Railway - 29/07 & 03/08/2026
On the first day, I went to have a ride on the evening Fish & Chips Tornado service from Pickering to Grosmont and back. Before that, I filmed a clipof 2253 ‘Omaha’ leaving Pickering on a service to Grosmont.
On the second day, I spent most of my time filming around Grosmont after riding on the morning Tornado service. I also filmed a few other locomotive that were running their respective services, including 37668 'Great Rocks' & 31128 'Charybdis'. Tornado was seen doing a bit of running around at Grosmont, and I was able to get some shots of it up close at the Grosmont engine sheds and saw the opening of the front Smoke box door before having one last ride behind the locomotive back to Pickering.
I did film a few clips of the ride from out the window but I experienced a few microphone problems in doing so. I've trimmed out what I can, but some of the audio might not sound great. I will try and have it fixed for the next time I visit.
Its fantastic to still still steam knocking about on the NYMR despite the ongoing Mainline Steam ban.
