On Saturday 8th August we saw plenty of Class 90s, on intermodals and light engine, passing through Carlisle but had to wait until the following day for a charter train. On Sunday 9th West Coast Railways broke the monotony of Class 47s and 57s during the current steam ban with a 37 on the Waverley from York. It was windy on the Saturday but wet on the Sunday. Even so, the amount of rain is insufficient to make much impact on the dry ground or dead vegetation to suggest Network Rail might lift the steam ban.

We also see a veritable crowd boarding a southbound Lumo service - it must have been packed!
