SOLIHULL STATION
28th July 2026
Having returned from my brief visit to The Harz and Belgium, I gave an area a visit I had not been to for a while. Concentrating on the area around the Midlands City of Birmingham. I started at Solihull Station to the south of the metropolis. A busy location for freight and passenger traffic, operated by Chiltern Railways, serving Stratford .U.A and Reading, Birmingham Moor Street - London Marylebone and V.V., with some services being hauled/pushed by class 68 Locomotives. Passing 'Voyagers' serving the North and South and Class 168/170/172 DMU's serving many local places such as Worcester, Moor Street, Snow Hill and Kidderminster, just to mention a few. All the freight traffic I witnessed on this day were in the hands of a variety of Class 66 Locomotives in different company liveries, mainly container traffic.
Chiltern Railways operates services from the station to destinations including Birmingham Moor Street, London Marylebone, and Stratford-Upon-Avon. Various train types are visible, including Class 168, 172, and 165 diesel multiple units, as well as Class 66 freight locomotives in different liveries handling container traffic. The footage includes services to locations such as Kidderminster, Worcester, and London Paddington.
Fishplate has identified 27 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 2 headcodes and 9 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
